Home Library Programs Free Tax Assistance Available by Appointment

Free Tax Assistance Available by Appointment

Free tax assistance is again available at Marshall Public Library to taxpayers with middle and low income, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.  Volunteers have been trained through the AARP Tax-Aide program in cooperation with the IRS and will provide this confidential tax preparation service at no charge.

Assistance is by appointment only and will take place in the library.  This service will be available from February 5th and continue through April 13th.   Persons interested in receiving free tax assistance should call the library to schedule an appointment on or after January 19th. Assistance will be available during select hours each week.

Persons interested in receiving free tax assistance may call the library to schedule an appointment beginning January 14th.  Assistance will be available during select hours each week.  Please bring last year’s 2017 income tax forms, a photo ID, Social Security Card, and all supporting documentation. Spouses who file jointly must both be present. The volunteers will not complete returns for which they are not trained, including business and farm returns.

A very limited supply of tax forms will be available at the library for free while quantities last.  Most forms can be downloaded from the IRS website at www.irs.gov/forms, which may be done at the library for a small printing fee.
