Meet the Librarian


Our Head Librarian Jamie Poorman holds an MLS degree from Clarion University and has worked at Marshall Public Library since 2008. She has been researching her own family history for over twenty-five years and enjoys helping others with their genealogy questions. Jamie has presented a variety of programs on genealogy research including researching in Clark County, using Ancestry, and breaking down brick walls. She is a member of the Illinois Humanities Road Scholar's Speakers Bureau, the Association for Professional Genealogists, and holds a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University. 

Jamie also received the Scholarship to BCG Preliminary Applicants from the Board for Certification of Genealogists and attended the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records at the National Archives in Washington, DC in 2024.
